It was back in April, when PETA Asia-Pacific began accepting nominees for the contest from across Asia.

The Philippines, for its part, fielded 13 of its sexiest vegetarians: Alicia Meyer, Sandra Seifert, Yasmien Kurdi, Chin-Chin Gutierrez, Juliana Palermo, Carlos Agassi, Raymond Bagatsing, Lougee Basabas, Nityalila Saulo, Isabel Roces, Raya Mananquil, RJ Ledesma, and last year's Filipina representative, Geneva Cruz.

After voting was held, Sandra Seifert narrowly won against Lougee Basabas. Thus, Seifert was named Sexiest Vegetarian in the Philippines for 2012, and it was she who competed against the other Asian celebrities.

In 2009, Seifert was crowned Miss Philippines-Earth. She was the country's official representative to the Miss Earth International beauty pageant. There, she won first-runner up and the title Miss Earth Air. A long time vegetarian and environmentalist, she previously appeared in a PETA campaign "Save the Planet. Go Vegetarian."
